Since 1977, the Scottish Orienteering Association has organised a biennial multi-day orienteering festival called the Scottish 6 Days. The festival takes place during the summer in various parts of Scotland. In the late 80s, the Welsh Orienteering Association proposed the idea of organising a similar event in Wales. Eventually, it was agreed that there should be alternating festivals every 4 years - one in Wales and the other in the Lake District. In 1988, the first CROESO 6 Day festival was organised in South Wales and has been held regularly since then, except for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival has been hosted in various locations throughout Wales, showcasing the beautiful and diverse landscapes of the country.
